COMMUNITY PROGRAMS BY THE MUSICAL TRIO GRAVITY!
General Assembly Programs (Program) Themes
- Black History Month - here we talk about the influence of black musicians and do (perform) 6 or 7 familiar songs, which can include current successful artists of today
- Musical interactive - GRAVITY demonstrates various different styles of music, (i.e. blues, reggae, jazz, caribbean) and talks about each instrument (piano, guitar, drums and voice) and its unique sound. We start this session by directing the students play simple percussion instruments. This is a great pre-session when adding our other classroom workshops. We are looking into obtaining sponsors who will donate these small percussion instruments.
- Enjoying songs from many cultures - picking a number of cultures or countries, Gravity talks about traditions and then does songs to demonstrate songs from each culture. Schools may request that a certain culture be highlighted. Please make requests at least 2 months before performance, please.
- Exploring Rhythm & Blues music - here we talk & sing about where R&B music comes from and explore the similarities and differences in musical styles of artists from early crooners to artists of today.
NEW ! ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS for Teachers
MUSIC CAN MAKE LEARNING FUN!
Ask about our teachers preparation kit. We can add a special event for your teachers at an after school or lunch meeting where HAROLD PAYNE will custom make some music that the teachers can use in their daily lesson plans. We will need subjects & area of study three weeks before this workshop takes place. Brown bag lunch, informal setting recommended.NEW! Concerts to benefit your community.
GRAVITY knows that if you do a community concert that is advertised to the public, you have more access to using the CAC grant. When they come to do residency programs, we encourage your Rotary Club, PTA, Girl/Boy Scouts, or local merchants to set up a community concert. Extra monies collected at the door could go directly to a charity, to purchase new books for the library, allocate more music instruments to your school, cookie sales to the girl scouts ..PLUS many other possibilities. GRAVITY will perform their POWER OF POSITIVE MUSIC concert and would be glad to have your most excellent music students or a childrens choir sing a few songs with them, on stage. Call us to discuss your own ideas at (818) 760-4176. Smaller presentations that encourage students!GRAVITY would be willing to do 2 to 4 events a day. If we do 3 or more events, we would want one of these presentations to be community based. For example, add one of our special programs like a community concert for the PTA, or Rotary, or other large organization ; an after school classroom workshop, (see below), our new Teachers program, or a choir participation program (with your schools own choir) for a music concert event.
Choir Program
All the members of GRAVITY will work with your local school or choir to add to a powerful community concert. We will send recordings and sheet music to the Music Director, so that the local artists can work on the piece before GRAVITY arrives for the dress rehearsal and choir practice. Using local artists can bring in a large attendance and this can make more money for your PTA, Charity or add funds to your school or libraries. Watch as this program unites community spirit!Music Education Individual classroom or after school programs
FUN WITH SONGWRITING Harold Paynes songs have been recorded by over 100 artists and have been featured in numerous motion pictures, TV programs and commercials. He uses his music and interactive skills to inspire the students to jump into the creative process and actually start writing songs. Watch Harold access creativity by making up songs on the spot from the students own titles.
WE ALL LOVE TO SING. Clydene Jackson is a Premier Session singer for Feature Films, TV and Commercials, who shares her experiences as a professional vocalist. She sings familiar songs that will encourage children to have more fun singing and sharing music with family and friends! Clydene encourages young musical talents by answering career questions about choosing singing as a profession.
ANYONE CAN LEARN TO PLAY PERCUSSION. Oliver C. Brown is a world-renowned percussionist having toured and recorded with a virtual "whos who" in the music industry. He will present a hands-on percussion session demonstrating African, Caribbean and Latin rhythms. If some percussion instruments are provided, each student can take their turn where they will see anyone can have rhythm.
WE HOPE THIS GIVES YOU A BETTER IDEA OF THE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!
